Must Try Street Foods in Manila

Street food is ready-to-eat food or drink sold by a vendor, in a street or other public place, such as at a market or fair. It is often sold from a portable food cart, or food truck and meant for immediate consumption. Some street foods are regional, but many have spread beyond their region of origin. Most street foods are classed as both finger food and fast-food, and are cheaper on average than restaurant meals. According to a 2007 study from the Food and Agriculture Organization, 2.5 billion people eat street food every day.

Today, people may purchase street food for a number of reasons, such as to get flavorful food for a reasonable price in a sociable setting, to experience ethnic cuisines, and many more.

In this picture you can see grilled chicken neck or leeg ng manokUlo ng manok is the grilled head of the chicken also called helmet.

In this picture you can see balat ng baboy or grilled  pork skin, isaw ng baboy are pig intestines and tenga ng baboy are marinated and grilled pig ears (also called as walkman). You can also find baga which is grilled or deep fried pig’s lungs and barbeque which is pork meat grilled on a stick.

These street foods are found in Manila along the sidewalks or public places. So here are the other kinds of street food:

Pwet ng manok: grilled chicken’s ass.

Balun-balunan: grilled chicken gizzards.

Atay ng manok: balls made of chicken meat. Deep fried.

My favorite among these street foods are isaw ng manok and paa ng manok (chicken intestines and chicken feet) because since I was young I used to eat these food with rice and a very flavorful sauce as my dinner. These food are mouth-watering so that it became one of my favorite food.

I hope some of you will try these foods when you get here in Manila. See you! 🙂

Teenage Stress

How one’s body reacts to change can be called stress. These changes can come from feeling, situation, environment and people. Facing lots of school work can cause stress. There are many techniques to dealing with stress. The importance of handling stress is very serious, because stress affects our body not only psychologically but also physically.

Teen stress can be caused by pressure, insecurities, bottled up emotions, changes and sometimes just life and handling it. Teens deal with pressure daily, to fit in, to do school works and to basically be accepted. Even though some may be stronger than others and are able to say “No” and just walk away from the situation, they are still later taunted or pressured about the decision that they made. One’s that are weak will later regret felling into the pressure. Emotions can also become very overwhelming; teens normally go through a lot of diversion with adults mainly their parent. It may not be that the child is just being rebellious, but that they have feelings that they feel nobody understands. This may cause teens to exclude themselves and keep all feelings and emotions towards adults and even any other issues that they may want to talk about to themselves to form what we call stress.

We may think of stressful events as unpleasant ones, such as losing a job or having difficulties at home or at school. Although, we wish we could get away from stressful situations or change them, most of the time we can’t. What we can do is learn how to control our responses to those situations we can develop techniques that will reduce the effects of stress on our mental and physical health. Some signs of stress are: Headaches, Nervousness, Rashes, Stomachaches, Fast heartbeat, Perspiration, Lack of concentration, Forgetfulness, Drop in school performance, Carelessness, Bored, and Anger.

Salted Eggs and Tomato Salad? Hmm .. Yummy!

Salted Eggs and Tomato Salad or Itlog na maalat with kamatis is probably one of the easiest Filipino salad that you will surely like. This dish is delicious and very easy to prepare. It is best served as a side for grilled dishes such pork, fish, or seafood.

I particularly like to have Salted Eggs with Tomato Salad with Grilled pork. I also love it with grilled daing na bangus. To me, a perfect Salted Eggs with Tomato Salad meal is something with anything grilled (may it be meat or seafood) along with steamed white rice. Having this salad around boosts my appetite and makes me enjoy my meal better.

Hi! This is Adele!

Adele is one of the best-selling artists of our time due to her powerful and incredible voice, moving lyrics and outspoken personality.

Adele is one of the UK’s best-selling singer/songwriters today. Her full name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins. She started singing at the age of four years old and has stated the Spice Girls heavily influenced her decision to start singing.

Her first album 19 was named for her age at the time and was released in February 2008. It went straight to number one after the success of her second single Chasing Pavements, which had been released two weeks previously on 18 January. This song debuted at number two and stayed in the UK charts for four months.

In February 2009, her debut album went platinum in the US having sold 2.2 million copies. She also won Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female Vocal Performance in 2009 and was nominated for three Brit awards.

Adele’s second album 21, which was her age at the time, was released on 24 January 2011 in the UK and on 22 February in the US. She has claimed that the album was inspired by her break-up with a former partner. It was a change in direction from her first record as it incorporated aspects of country music. It reached number one in more than 26 countries including the UK and US, while an emotional performance of Someone Like You at the Brits on 15 February 2011 rocketed the track to number one. Adele’s first album also re-entered the charts while her first two singles from 21 – Rolling In The Deep and Someone Like You were both in the top five. For the first time since the Beatles in 1964, a living British musician had two singles and two albums in the top-five at the same time.

Her third single from the album Set Fire To The Rain also reached number one. However, she had to cancel two shows to undergo vocal cord surgery in the US due to a vocal cord hemorrhage that could have led to permanent damage of her voice.

Since then, she has recovered and won six Grammy as well as five Brits. 21 went back to number one in February 2012 and has become the fifth best-selling album of all time in the UK.

25 has since become Adele’s best-selling album, shifting over 19,000,000 copies worldwide. In May 2016, she signed a contract with Sony (leaving her original record company XL) in a reported £90 million deal – the biggest record deal in history.

Happiness Overload !

What makes people happy? What inspires them to smile?

“Happiness is a state of well-being and contentment; a pleasurable and satisfying experience.” (Merriam Webster Dictionary)

Many people find happiness in terms of love and support from their family and friends, having freedom, contentment, success in life and so on. There are lot of reasons for us to be happy. We should not face our problems as if there is no tomorrow.

As a person, we should always cherish every moment that we have because there is a saying that “Life is short” and this beautiful yet meaningful quotation from Mark Twain, “Let us endeavor to live so that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry”.

Satisfaction and contentment are the keys to achieve happiness that we are looking for. Simple life is  worth to live for. Since I was young I used to be simple and plain in many aspects of life. I won’t usually ask for more unlike other children. My parents teach us to be as simple as we can so that we can taste the real happiness that life could offer. Happiness is the reason why people keep forward despite of facing struggles in life. Happiness is something which inspires us to stay positive even we are in a difficult situation.

Happiness means everything. Happiness is priceless. 👌👌👌❤😄

An Ideal Teacher

A teacher’s profession is an ideal profession. Yet all teachers are not ideal. There are many who are angry, beat students, scold them, have no affection for students, are interested only in increasing their income, keep no touch with books, and are too much inclined to politics.
Certainly they have no right to be treated as ideal teachers for no students, except the worst, would like to build their lives of them.

This shows that very few teachers can rightly claim to be accepted as ideal ones. There are some who possess many qualities that make them to be likely claimants to this honorable position but a few shortcomings shatter their hopes to pieces. This shows that an ideal teacher is not someone to be found here, there and everywhere. He is really a rare object, and very few schools can boast to have such a teacher in their staff-list. If we are to describe an ideal teacher in a few words, we must say that he should have the ability to serve as a model before his students.

An ideal teacher, above all, should be a good teacher. His teaching ability should be such so as to attract the attention of the students easily. He should teach in a way so that any topic, however hard it may be, can be easily understood by the students.

In order to teach well, the teacher himself should have vast and deep knowledge. He must be Able to clear away students’ fear of studies and to turn them into store-houses of knowledge without which a refined and higher life cannot be lived.
An ideal teacher should have unbounded love and affection for his students. He should be one who can be easily approached by them, for he should truly be their friend, philosopher, and guide. If a student does something wrong and regrets it sincerely, the teacher, instead of punishing him, should deal so tactfully with him that the wrong-dear will ever refrain from doing such things in future. However, if the fault is genuine and there is no regret for it, the teacher will not hesitates to take stern measures against such an action. He will not allow discipline to be given the good-bye for the sake of showing love to a student. He should be able to inculcate certain virtues among students, such as regular studies, punctuality, care of health, equal emphasis on reading and writing, perseverance, kindheartedness, and the like.

Future English teacher here ! I know this would be a tough job but I’d take the risk and provide everything that I can for the sake of my future students 🙂
